Cantine Aperte in Montefalco: A Journey Through Wine and Culture in the Heart of Umbria

Montefalco, with its lush hills and unmatched culinary heritage, is gearing up to host one of the most anticipated events of the year: Cantine Aperte.

This event, taking place on May 25-26, 2024, offers a unique opportunity to explore the region’s renowned wineries, taste exquisite wines, and immerse oneself in the beauty of the Umbrian landscape.

Cantine Aperte, organized by the Movimento Turismo del Vino, allows visitors to discover the secrets of winemaking directly from the producers. In Umbria, and particularly in Montefalco, the participating wineries will open their doors to enthusiasts, offering tastings, guided tours, and a variety of activities designed to celebrate the culture of wine.

Montefalco is famous for its Sagrantino, a robust and complex red wine that has captivated connoisseurs worldwide. But also for its Rosso, Grechetto (white), and increasingly mature rosé wines. During Cantine Aperte, visitors can explore historic wineries like Arnaldo Caprai, Antonelli San Marco, and Perticaia, among others. These wineries not only produce wines of the highest quality but are also committed to promoting sustainable and environmentally friendly practices.

In addition to tastings, the wineries in Montefalco offer experiences that allow visitors to fully experience the region. Vineyard walks, cooking workshops, and meetings with winemakers are just a few of the proposed activities. This direct contact with the local winemaking reality provides a unique opportunity to understand the deep connection between people and the land, which is the foundation of the quality of Umbrian wines.

The hills of Montefalco, with their breathtaking views, historic villages, and the warm hospitality of the locals, create a magical atmosphere that makes every visit unforgettable. The wineries thus become not only places of production but true cultural and social gathering points.

To participate in Cantine Aperte, you can book visits directly on the Movimento Turismo del Vino Umbria website. With a total of 50 participating wineries, the event offers a wide variety of itineraries and activities for all tastes.
